Aquakids Beginners is a unique programme using a verity of methods of swimming without the use of flotation aids. Each child works with an adult in the water, this can be a Parent, Aunty, Uncle or Grandparent, someone who the child trusts and feels comfortable with. We don’t use floatation aids as this can inhibit movement, put children off balance and out of alignment and creates a false sense of the water.
The Adult is also being taught what support to give their child, as and when and how much, this way parent and child can practice together at their leisure and safely.
Nothing is ever forced in these lessons as children can quickly lose confidence and become afraid so we always use, what we like to call the TLC approach.
At this level we work on Building confidence, alignment of the body, Basic Stroke Technique, Breath Control, and above all how to have fun safely in the water.
Certificate are only given once a child can swim 5 & 10 metres on their back and front, totally unaided with good breath control.
